If the back clip on your carrier feels hard to reach or rubs under your arms, it’s usually because the clip is positioned incorrectly. Adjusting the carrier can improve comfort and fit.
The clip should sit comfortably between your shoulder blades, not at the base of your neck.
It should be tight enough to keep the shoulder straps from slipping, but not so tight that the straps end up at your neck.
Tips for Reaching the Back Clip
If you cannot reach the clip on your own, try leaving the under-arm straps loose while putting on the carrier. After placing your baby in the carrier, grab the shoulder straps, hold the tension, and slide your hands up to bring the clip high enough to secure. Please keep a hand on baby or otherwise ensure that they are properly supported. Parts of this adjustment may require both your hands so please make sure that baby stays safe and secure throughout.
Another method is the T-shirt method: keep the clip fastened at all times and pull it up over you and your baby like putting on a T-shirt — head first, then arms, then the other arm.
Proper clip placement increases padding under your arms and reduces rubbing while keeping your baby secure.
